The new 281,000 square foot Weill Institute for Neurosciences Building, on the Mission Bay campus of University of California, San Francisco, is scheduled to open in 2021. The building will bring together psychiatry bench lab research with other basic neurosciences research, as well as clinical and support spaces. The six story, ultramodern building is a combination of psychiatric offices on floors 1-3 and research labs, clinics and office space on floors 4-6.
Three of the project vendors selected GlasPro to fabricate the architectural and decorative interior glass needed to finish the railings, wall systems, and room partitions. GlasPro partnered with MAARS Partitioning Systems to provide double-spliced, low-iron, laminated office partitions for the interaction spaces on all six floors. Trex Commercial Products called on GlasPro to provide low-iron tempered SGP glass for stair railings at the heart of the building’s central space. For ACR Glass and Door (Oakland, Calif.), the GlasPro team fabricated back-painted glass for wall systems of varying sizes and low-iron, tempered, clear glass for office entrances. The glass reinforces the architects desire to create a dynamic, welcoming and illuminated environment.
